Health, Safety & Environment
Safety Is Our
First Priority
At Sequential International, safety is not a department or a checkbox — it is a culture embedded in every decision, every toolbox talk, and every field operation we undertake.
Our Commitment
HSE Policy Statement
Sequential International Oil and Gas Company Limited is committed to conducting all its operations in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees, contractors, visitors, and the communities in which we operate. We are equally committed to protecting the environment from the impacts of our activities.
Our zero-tolerance stance on safety violations is not merely a policy — it is a fundamental belief that every worker has the right to go home safely at the end of every shift. No commercial objective will ever take precedence over the safety and well-being of our people.
All operations are carried out in full compliance with Nigerian NUPRC/DPR regulations, international ISO standards, and industry best practices — with continuous improvement embedded in our management system.

How We Stay Safe
HSE Management Framework
Zero Tolerance Policy
Sequential International maintains an absolute zero-tolerance stance on safety violations. No job is so important that it cannot be done safely. Every operation begins with a full hazard identification and risk assessment.
Permit to Work System
All non-routine and high-risk operations require a formal Permit to Work (PTW) before commencement. This includes hot work, confined space entry, electrical isolation, and lifting operations.
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
A formal HIRA process is conducted for every new project scope. Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Task Risk Assessments (TRA) are documented and reviewed with all crew members before each task.
Emergency Response Readiness
All sites maintain an active Emergency Response Plan (ERP) with designated muster points, first aid trained personnel, fire suppression equipment, and a clear chain of communication.
Environmental Management
We operate in compliance with Nigerian Environmental regulations and international ISO 14001 principles. Spill prevention plans, waste management procedures, and environmental monitoring are standard on all sites.
Training & Competency
All field personnel undergo mandatory HSE induction, task-specific competency assessments, and regular refresher training including basic offshore safety, first aid, and H2S awareness.
Compliance
Standards We Work To
Our HSE Management System is aligned with internationally recognised standards and Nigerian upstream regulatory requirements. We continuously review and update our procedures to maintain full compliance and drive continuous improvement.
Transparency
Incident Reporting & Near-Miss Culture
Open Reporting Culture
We actively encourage the reporting of all near-misses, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviours without fear of blame. Every report is an opportunity to prevent a future incident.
Root Cause Analysis
All incidents and near-misses undergo a thorough root cause analysis. Findings are shared across the organisation to prevent recurrence and improve our systems.
Continuous Improvement
HSE performance data is reviewed monthly at management level. KPIs, leading indicators, and lagging indicators are tracked and acted upon.
Contractor HSE Requirements
All third-party contractors and sub-contractors working on our projects must meet our HSE pre-qualification requirements before mobilisation.
